The entire bridal party wore Jenny Yoo and looked fabulous. The bridesmaids wore “Josephine” (which unfortunately is discontinued), while the flower girls wore similar dress styles “Colette” and “Emma”. The flower girl dresses had corresponding pink (insetted) sashes that matched the bridesmaids’ dresses. The entire bridal party looked amazing!

With the help of Amy Mancuso as wedding planning and the photography by Hollye Schumacher, the wedding looked flawless!

It’s a scrumptious combination of chocolate cake filled with raspberry gelato, all wrapped up in a beautiful layer of fondant resting on another thin layer of mouth-watering frosting. One word – YUM. I seriously could have eaten the whole thing myself. Thankfully, for my new year health kick, I held back. If you’re not a fan of fondant, they will do a mousse frosting instead, though the fondant is just too pretty to pass up in my opinion.

Most people know the Gelato Spot as just that – a place to grab some tasty gelato. It’s incredibly exciting that they have launched their wedding cake and dessert division, appropriately named “XOXO Bakery”. If you read our blogs regularly, you’ll know why Angela is dying over the name (her license plate even reads XOXO).

I am especially excited about these individual desserts – what an adorable presentation when throwing a bridal shower, or a bridal tea party the day before the wedding. I am going to the Gelato Spot on Shea tomorrow to pick some of these up for my mom’s birthday dessert, since I’m pretty sure they’ll look and taste better than the cake I would make out of the box.

The girls wore Melissa Sweet (Style MS223) in Pinot Noir aka Black! Again, this is another case in which you can never go wrong with a “LBD”. The girls look incredible and the Paillette Trim at the bottom adds just enough sass. Love it!

Nicole was able to plan everything on her own… and did an amazing job! Great venue and a great looking bridal party!

All along, 2 things have not changed… I am wearing my mother’s 1976 gown, with drastic modifications like removing the daisy lace turtleneck and long cuff sleeves.  I am excited to start my life with Brandon in the same gown my mom wore as she married my dad.  They are still happily married after 34 years and the perfect role models for marriage.  The second thing that has not changed is the groomsmen attire.  They will wear crisp khaki suits.  

We started out thinking light blue bridesmaid dresses and hot pink flowers.  Then I changed my mind.  Next I thought about doing a fresh green bridesmaid dress since it will be Spring.  I fell in love with the Marni dress from Jenny Yoo when I had it in for a trunk show.  Then I changed my mind on the color again.  Then came a week-long obsession with seersucker, but decided the white in the seersucker wouldn’t go with the candlelight color of my wedding gown.

One day I decided to look all around the store and pick out my absolute favorite color.  I kept going back to the Thread Fuchsia Matte Silk as my favorite.  This particular shade of fuchsia will be gorgeous on blonde and brunette bridesmaids alike.  I am in love with this color!  Our complimenting color is navy, two bold colors, but I love the effect of them together.  I Googled “Navy and Fuchsia Weddings” and came up with some great inspiration board ideas for flowers and decor!

 The style of bridesmaid dress I liked also changed several times after I picked the color.  I loved the Thread Shiloh (pictured above), but felt the one shoulder was a bit too modern for the silhouette of my dress.  After wavering for a few more weeks, I chose…drumroll please…the Thread Stella Dress in the Mini Length!!

Finally we are set on the bridesmaid attire!  The groomsmen are also wearing navy polka dot ties that Brandon found online.  They will be so cute!!  

Bridesmaid tip:  Even if your bride changes her mind as many times as I did encourage her and tell her she will decide on the right one.  My girls helped me reason through each choice I threw at them.  Deanna gave me some great advice that I pass on to my brides at Twirl.  You (the bride) are the one that will look at the bridal party pictures the rest of your life.  You need to be happy with the choice you made and not settle for something because you are second guessing.

If you fall in love with a bridesmaid dress that doesn’t come with a brooch, it’s easy to add one, and it makes a great gift for your bridal party.  My favorite places to shop for unique pieces are antique stores.  They usually have a good selection with a classic and historic feel, plus second-hand shops are usually less expensive than department stores.  You can get creative and buy a different style for each bridesmaid, giving some individual personality to each girl as she walks down the aisle.  You can also try Ebay or Etsy and search “vintage brooches”.  I also found these feminine, affordable brooches on Amazon – who would have thought?

Last week I had a bride who fell in love with this bridesmaid dress by Vineyard, but she’s having a black-tie optional wedding, so we talked about adding a brooch where the ruching meets at the waist – love it!

The location for their ceremony is just beautiful. It is a very romantic setting. The room they use for the reception is also very elegant and different. It is basically a stand alone, large room that you enter from the court-yard, and it is raised up by a couple steps and has the apperence of a cute house with a wrap-around pourch. The wedding I attended was larger, so there were round tables for dinner both inside and all along the porch. It was just wonderful.

I love love love this place!
